Dr. Tian-Jian Hsu (Tom) earned a bachelor degree (Ocean Engineering) from National Taiwan University in 1994 and a PhD degree (Civil Engineering) from Cornell University in 2002. He is currently Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at University of Delaware (UD). Before joining UD, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar and Assistant Scientists at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Assistant Professor of University of Florida. He received NSF Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2007. He has served as Associate Editor of Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans since 2011. Between 2015 to 2019, he served as an executive committee member of Community Surface Dynamics and System (CSDMS) and was elected to be the Chair of Cyberinformatics and Numerics Working group of CSDMS in 2015. Currently, he is the Chair of Organizing Committee and Member of Scientific Committee for the 4th Symposium on Two-phase Modeling for Sediment Dynamics in Geophysical Flows (THESIS 2019).
Hsu has published about 70 peer-reviewed journal papers and book chapters. His main research covers numerical modeling/simulation of various non-cohesive and cohesive sediment transport, including wave-driven on/offshore transport and their effect on beach profile evolution, frontal processes in estuaries, and flocculation of cohesive sediments. More recently, his research focused toward heterogeneous sediment processes, such as size grading, interaction of mud, sand and oil droplets, and evolution of bedforms. His group devoted major efforts to develop open-source numerical tools for sediment transport in the OpenFOAM framework as well as a new pseudo-spectral scheme for turbulence-resolving fine sediment transport in bottom boundary layers.
徐天健(Tom)博士於1994年獲得台灣大學的海洋工程學士學位,2002年獲得康奈爾大學 (Cornell University) 的土木工程博士學位。他目前是美國德拉瓦大學土木與環境工程系正教授(University of Delaware (UD))。在加入UD之前,他是伍茲霍爾海洋研究所 (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) 的博士後學者和助理科學家,以及佛羅里達大學 (University of Florida) 的助理教授。他於2007年獲得美國 NSF Early CAREER Development Award(CAREER)。自2011年起,他一直擔任地球物理研究期刊:海洋 (Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans) 的副主編。2015年至2019年,他擔任 Community Surface Dynamics and System(CSDMS)的執行委員會成員。並於2015年當選為CSDMS網絡訊息學和數值方法工作組主席。目前,他是4th Symposium on Two-phase Modeling for Sediment Dynamics in Geophysical Flows 組委會主席和科學委員會成員(THESIS 2019)。
